BOW BALANCE — The new dimension of stirrups
A few years ago SPRENGER started a new study to improve the jointed stirrups even further. The aim was to develop a stirrup in collaboration with professional riders and technicians, which provides even more comfort and maximum security. The result was the meanwhile worldwide renowned BOW BALANCE stirrup.
The BOW BALANCE stirrups combine several aspects that represent good secure riding. By changing the weight ratio compared to other stirrups on the market, the BOW BALANCE stirrups are optimal balanced as the name already implies. They can be picked up much easier due to the special balance and the bow form of the upper part. A simple touch of the foot and the stirrup gently folds onto it.
Shock absorbing grip is achieved by a widened tread made of rubber with two types of properties.
The renowned and patented System 4 technology, which further is a distinctive part of the stirrups, supports release of the foot in case of emergency and ensures improved flexibility.
Overview of the advantages of BOW BALANCE
-Improved leg position due to the bow form
-System-4-technology for safety and comfort
-Treads made of rubber with two types of property for more grip
-Widened tread for perfect balance
-Provides easy “pick-up“ due tot he changed weight ratio and the bow form
-Available in the sizes 11, 12 & 13 cm
All stirrups are marked “L“ for left and “R“ for right for correct fitting on the saddle.
The implementation of the test results
It turned out that forces can occur in the stirrup which can equal up to tripled bodyweight. However, the experience of many years has shown that even stirrups with a breaking strength of 600 kg can break. Therefore, SPRENGER only offers the highest quality to guarantee maximum security. Our safety standard for stirrups is a breaking strength of 800 kg (exception: Aluminium racing stirrups). The breaking strength of the new Bow Balance stirrups is greater than 1.600 kg.
Jointed stirrups — a story of success
In collaboration with the inventor Erwin Meroth, Sprenger developed the first jointed stirrup which was characterized by a forward and backward moveable tread. Hereby, the heals were always and automatically in the correct low position and an immediate release was possible in case of emergency. Due to the permanent contact of the complete sole this stirrup additionally provided very good foothold and relaxed calves. Therefore this stirrup rapidly enjoyed a great popularity among show jumpers and military riders.
In the year 1998 Sprenger improved the flexibility by extending the joint with an additional link. From now on the stirrup distinguished by maximum comfort in addition to the known advantages. Hips, knees and ankles are relieved during riding and particularly ligaments and menisci are spared. Until today this patented "System 4 jointed stirrup“ stands as an epitome for comfortable and secure riding. It has unquestionable confidence from spare time riders through to professional athletes and can be found on every tournament.
Highest quality and safety
SPRENGER stirrups are subjected to the highest quality and safety standards. Extensive tests are therefore carried out before a product is introduced to the market.
Quality checks — like pulling tests — are standardised with machines in our premises. Sprenger contacted The Institute for Research and Development (FES) in Berlin for the first time more than 20 years ago to obtain the most exact knowledge of the forces which are effectively at work during riding for developing new stirrups. Substantial research has been done. Stirrups were prepared with special strain gauges which transmitted the tensile momentums via radio. Tests were then made on a military terrain under competition conditions.
